Associate in Science Degree (A.S.) in Criminal Justice
The AS degree in Criminal Justice prepares students to become criminal justice professionals who are educated about the foundations and approaches to this discipline and can apply preventive measures to crime as well as diagnose and triage the climate in which specific interactions occur to bring about public safety for all. Students will access various approaches and careers associated with this field and the traditional and proactive methodologies needed to meet public safety for all communities.
Upon completing the AS in Criminal Justice, students can seamlessly enroll in the BS degree program in Public Administration without adding additional time to their degree of study. Depending on their career objectives, students may continue to the BS in Public Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice or continue to one of five other concentrations - Law and Public Policy, Nonprofit Administration, International Administration, Community Development, and General Public Administration.
Additionally, many law enforcement organizations, such as the NYPD, NYFD, Department of Corrections, and more, require 60 college credits (AS degree) as part of their pre-screening requirements.
