Minor in Philosophy
The Minor in Philosophy offers students from all academic disciplines an opportunity to devote 12 undergraduate credits to the study of a subject central to a liberal education. Focusing on the development and exercise of higher-level cognitive skills, the Philosophy Minor emphasizes comprehension, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation in the context of critical thinking, argumentation, writing, and research. Most importantly, it inculcates a disposition for active inquiry and a desire for lifelong learning.
To minor in Philosophy, students must take 12 credits in Philosophy. PHIL 101 and PHIL 201 are required courses in the minor. The balance of credits (6) may be elected from PHIL 211, PHIL 214 or PHIL 301.
