The mission of the Department of Computer Information Systems (CIS) is to prepare students to design, build, and implement software solutions that are the driving force in every business, not-for-profit, and government agency. Specifically, students acquire the skills to develop a market, deliver and manage integrated software solutions using emerging technologies that can be applied in nearly every industry.
CIS offers the following degree programs and minor:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems;
- Associate in Applied Science in Computer Applications
- Minor in Multimedia & Web Technologies
Each degree program includes programming, data analytics, system analysis, system design, information security, and database management systems, networks, data communications, graphics, multimedia, and Web technologies. The B.S. degree program is part of the CUNY 2x Tech (Alt) program with a $1.5 million grant. The participating CIS students prepare for a professional career in software engineering through the coding boot camps, workshops, paid summer internships, and internships in major corporations (i.e., Google, Microsoft, HP, Bloomberg, etc.) small businesses throughout NYC.
Students in the department are expected to pass all Computer Information Systems required courses with a grade of “C” or better.
